The Word-Righter has specialized in legal transcription services for over 25 years,
with experience in all phases from interviews to trial/hearing proceedings.
Although based in Arizona and serving mostly the Greater Phoenix Area, both
transcription and proofreading services have been and continue to be provided
throughout the Continental United States.
Transcription
Transcription is the service provided whereby a typed document or transcript is
produced from an audio tape, audio e-file or CD recording. The typed document is
generally provided in hard-copy form, complete with cover. Diskettes or CDs may
also be provided upon request.
Fees for transcription services are charged strictly on a per-page basis, with no
hourly, per diem fees or setup fees. The quality of the transcript depends on not
only the transcriber's ability to correctly type the verbiage heard and the clarity of the
recording, but also is dependent to a great degree on the correctness of the
information given by the client as to name spellings, dates, times, location
addresses, correct caption information and case numbers. Therefore, the more
correct information received by the transcriber, the better the quality of the transcript
produced.
Proofreading
Proofreading services are available to the legal community, by way of assisting
court reporters in production of quality transcripts, and also occasional
proofreading for authors and the educational community.
Legal proofreading fees are charged on a per-page basis and includes not only
spelling, punctuation and context proofing, but the proofreader has years of
experience in legal format, and is familiar with differing format styles between
federal, state and even county entities from various regions.
